In June 2018 Oneplus 6 launch, confirms company

It is a new year, and around this time, smartphone companies usually start building up the hype around their flagship devices. OnePlus has is the latest to jump on the bandwagon to tease the launch of its flagship smartphone late in the second quarter.

OnePlus 6 to launch in June this year, confirms company

In an interview with CNET, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirmed that the OnePlus 6 will be launching sometime in the late second quarter. While a June launch time frame is not new, this is the first time the company has spoken about its flagship device for the year. This, however, puts rumors to rest about OnePlus breaking its tradition, and launching its smartphone as early as March.

What’s interesting though is that Lau isn’t sure if OnePlus will launch two flagship devices this year. This is in line with what co-founder Carl Pei was quoted as saying during an AMA last year. That said, if the last two years are anything to go by, we could see a OnePlus 6T towards the end of this year. The company also revealed that it is open to partner with US carriers for the sale of the device in US. "If the right opportunity and right timing come along, we'll be very happy to experiment", Lau said in an interview to CNET.

Recently, OnePlus launched the Lava Red Limited Edition of its OnePlus 5T smartphone in India. The device comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage and is priced at Rs 37,999. The customers can purchase the smartphone from Amazon starting January 20.This is the third special edition of the smartphone which the company has launched in India. Earlier, the company introduced the Star Wars edition and the Sandstone edition.

For those unaware, OnePlus 5T features a 6.1-inch full optic AMOLED display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The bezel less display is protected with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top. The device runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system and will soon receive Android 8.0 Oreo update.

OnePlus 6 leaks are few and far between so far. But based on what we have come across so far, the OnePlus 6 is expected to feature a much-improved facial recognition technology. This feature will be highly inspired from the Apple iPhone X. Another report hinted at an under-display fingerprint sensor on the upcoming device. This could mean that OnePlus will be able to go for a full-screen display with minimum bezels.
